V-ați întrebat vreodată de ce Parcul „Valea Trandafirilor„ din Capitală poartă acest nume? Dacă da, dar nu ați găsit răspunsul, noi vă zicem. Se spune că acest parc a fost amenajat în locul unde cândva a fost un deal pe care se cultivau trandafiri. Persoanele care locuiau prin apropierea parcului îi spuneau dezmierdător „Vălicica” sau „Vălişoara”. Chiar dacă astăzi, în acest loc, nu prea vezi asemenea flori, pe timpuri, această regiune era foarte cunoscută pentru florile deosebite pe care le puteai vedea acolo.
Parcul a fost amenajat în 1968, în acest an s-au tras alei și au fos diguite malurile apelor. Inaugurarea lui a avut loc un an mai târziu. Astăzi, în interiorul parcului găsim mai multe restaurante, plaje, terenuri pentru copii și pentru sport. La marginea parcului, lângă str. Trandafirilor, se află Memorialul victimelor de la Cernobîl și un parc de distracție. Prin anii 1980 în „Valea Trandafirilor” se mai aflau și un cinematograf.
